Whenever the topic of Hustle is brought up, the first thing most say is how they would love for x to be the bill payer for them. The job they’re at currently and the part time side hustles they may have don’t do anything for their soul and they feel uninspired by everything else but their main objective in life. That’s usually due to their side hustle not bringing in enough chips to thrive off of. If that situation changed, if their side hustle blossomed into a legitimate business that was bringing in a good amount of capital, I’m nearly 100% sure their attitude towards it would change.
The essence of a side hustle…
The essence of a side hustle is that you’ve found something that you can make profit from that you don’t entirely hate. It doesn’t stir the inner juices any but you’ve done the research, planned it out and executed to a positive return so you keep it on deck to pull out when you need a little extra income. When you look at it closer, you’ll see that it often shares a lot in common with your main hustle; it could be you like conversing with people or solving people’s problems on a personal level. It could be that you enjoy writing or interacting on a merchant level. Whatever it is, you find some iota of joy in your side hustle along with the abundance of freedom you get from turning your own sweat into cash.
Why full time jobs don’t count…
Jobs don’t count because when you’re working for someone else, the realization of how that profit pie gets cut up becomes clear. You will never get a slice as big as the owner, even if you rise through the ranks to an executive level. Someone will always eat better than you and that knowledge, coupled with the absurd amounts of time you spend either ‘cooling down’ (think the weekend) or trying to work on you and you can see obviously why a full time job can never be called a true hustle. Part time jobs, depending on the circumstances, can yield good money while giving you time to continue on your path without being too exhausted.
