Is Nicki Minaj an overrated artists? If we go by that video she just released today, the answer would be yes. The video and single for the song “Your Love” was tragic. I will give her credit for one thing. Her acting chops are improving. However, that is the only good thing I can manage to squeeze out of me. I hated everything else about this video and song. Everything. The song itself is sub-par. Her mixtape seemed to have better songs than the ones she is releasing from her album. It seems like she is not putting her whole effort into creating the songs for the album. They lack that same excitable energy that the mixtape possessed.
Also, the auto tune. All artists, please stop with the auto tune. It cheapens songs and it is dead. Artists should stop trying to put that s**t on a respirator. If you are going to rock a Sinead Oconnor song and flip it then you must make sure that s**t is hot. I understand that Nicki is trying to make her crossover into the pop and radio friendly arena and bring in the big chips for Cash Money but she should not do it at the sake of sounding cheap and corny as hell. Lil Kim did not have too. I still remember one of her more popular radio friendly joints “Crush On You”. It was cute and quirky but not corny as all hell. McLyte did it, while simultaneously bringing the femininity out of her, Eve did it with her first album with her single “Got A Man” . My point is that Nicki has enough star power and can get to some of the best producers. The s**t can be done. You don’t have to completely say f**k effort and turn into a rapping cliche’ just because the song is trying to reach a pop audience. I thought that she could get no worse than that horrid song and video “Massive Attack” but apparently she can.
Oh and when she dies and the lead guy raises his hands to the heavens in anger. Classic corny. Honestly the video itself was laughable. I found myself releasing outbursts of extreme unexpected laughter every few seconds and thinking is she serious? Her lyrics were also lacking passion and creativity. This is part of the problem when an artist come out with such an extreme high. Sometimes it becomes difficult to keep the momentum. Don’t believe me? Watch this half assed video for yourself…The Nicki Minaj fan girls will go hard on me in 5..4..3..2..1..
Did she just throw this s**t together?

I didn't like the song or video. The sample was Annie Lennox's No More I Love You's
