Have you ever noticed that you put on weight while you are in a relationship? I know I have. It is the comfort level you slide into with your partner after some time together. After some time you can let loose and eat that extra piece of chicken without feeling like a pig. Your gym routine lessens now because hell! You already landed yourself a man/woman so what is the point? It is really easy for couples, especially those that live together to put on weight together. After a while your routine becomes eat, have sex, go out to eat, eat again…. This is a dilemma that everyone who I know who has ever been in a long term relationship faces at some point. Check out a few ways to avoid putting on those extra pounds while still keeping your honey.
Take A Walk
Walking is a great form of exercise. After dinner, you and your honey could go for a long walk around the neighborhood to burn off that pasta and shrimp dinner from earlier. Make taking a walk after dinner your routine together.
Avoid Eating Out As A Date
Avoid making going out to eat your only form of entertainment. I am currently a victim of that and am in the middle of rerouting the activities that my boyfriend and I do. The problem with eating out all the time versus not is that you have a tendency to eat unhealthy if u eat out. I have found that although it is time consuming, it is much easier for me to cook a sensible meal for me and my honey, than to go out to the Mexican taco spot down the street and order 6 steak tacos and a large fries for 11 bucks for us. Yup. Can’t you tell that I love that place?
Don’t Eat In Front Of The TV Together
You also tend to eat more if you eat in front of the TV. Even when your body tells you that you are content we usually continue to eat if the movie or show we are watching is still on. You also pay less attention to your body giving you signs that you are full because you are focusing on the TV. Switch to the dining room or kitchen table. If you have to eat in the living room then turn the TV off and talk instead while you eat. Yeah I know talking. Bummer right? Definitely not as fun as sex but it serves its purpose.
Stay Active Together
Instead of having your usual Saturday night DVD, pizza and ice-cream date go out! Take a bike ride, go for a run together, have sex (which is a great form of exercise), go for a walk, anything but the routine of eating and laying up.
Get A Gym Membership Together
Some gyms have a discount for partner or group rates. You and your honey can exercise together. On those nights where you are bored and you don’t want to go out to eat for a date, make a gym date. If your gym is open late night then hit the gym in the evening and burn off the dinner from earlier.
Cook Healthy Together
Take the time to prepare and cook your healthy meal as a team. Make it a part of your date night. You both can have insight on what you want to eat and how it is prepared. You also can both learn how to eat healthy together. Aww, how cute…

Unfortunately this is a trap that's very easy to fall into, but your tips for avioding/getting out of it are very good. My partner and I used to constantly eat all kinds of junk food when we watched TV in the evening. In an attempt to be healthier, we stopped eating in front of the TV a few months ago and we also started exercising (e.g. taking walks) as well. Since then, we've both found that we've lost a lot of weight and we both feel great!
