I find it interesting that the media is trying to scare "black" people out of marriage and that many people are falling for it. Have you noticed there arent any white statistics about single women or educated white women when their divorce rates are just as high?

I see it as a sociopolitical strategy. If blacks get married, their income is combined, thus moving them up the socioeconomic ladder. There are many privaleges to getting married, but money is an important benefit. If most blacks get married, we move up in social status.....thats a good enough reason for whites to deter blacks...to help many stay stuck in poverty (single parents usually end up in poverty & etc.) Its very interesting.

I think that they are creating too much false controversy on the subject! I don't know one man who is actually "Ready" to be married. Hell what does that even entail?..Please let's not get into the whole "Cheating" thing because we allll know that married men/women cheat. The media however is just that! They bring attention to issues that already exist and do a lot of embellishing on the subject in hopes that it will gain national attention! Well congrats! Well, I'm not scared to get married, and nothing the media could say will make me feel otherwise. Yes, if you're single, it's easy to fear the unknown. I agree that media suggests that the odds are stacked against us when it comes to finding love, but I'd rather take my chances and hope for the best. Marriage is not something that I want to rush into with just anybody, and finding someone to settle down with seems very hard sometimes, but I still have faith that there's someone special out there for me (who's also serious about marriage)! :)I think the media should focus on sharing more happy images of marriage or at least show that one or two marriages last for the longhaul...Geez!
