Whenever the subject of budgeting comes up, the first thing you’re likely to hear is that you should learn to live within your means. Chronically overspending is the quickest way to incur debt and invite a lackluster life. To me, there’s always been a bit of a flaw to that thinking–sure it will help you stay within the reigns of your situation and not have you a**ed out trying to ball like Yao Ming when your pockets are Spud Webb sized. I mentioned items that are within your weight class and can fall under the “I’ve worked hard and I can afford it” excuse; yes you can afford it technically, but if you want to move forward rather than simply maintain, you need to sacrifice even when you don’t have to. Sacrifice is a choice, not a chore. Let them be wowed over meaningless materialism; your eyes should stay squarely on the prize. The road to being ambitious and maximizing your Hustle is paved with fanciful things you could have bought but didn’t. Molding your mindset to see the imposed hardships as training means that when you are at the top, you won’t pull a Master P and tile your bathroom in gold…..
