I remember my mom snatching me out of a high school dance because she waited around to see HOW I danced. That showed me what NOT to do.

I didn't watch rap videos either. This is just something black women are born with. We just have to teach our daughters the when and where because we obviously already know how. LOL.

They need to be taught that there is time and place to drop it like it's hot. You can't keep them from it, just be real and educate them about when to use that power. Putting it all on display has become 'cool' today, but mothers and fathers can counteract this with proper training or snatching.

Thank you so much for this article!! You said it so well! I actually am going to recommend to my co-worker to read this. In general, I think that women tend not to be taught how to express their "inner-sexuality" correctly. Like you said, there's a time and a place for everything. Black women just need to be steered away that yes, it gets you that attention when your grinding like nobody's business up and down and you get that attention. But what comes WITH that attention is the part that kills. My parents were extremely helpful even when they didn't do it as well in helping me realize that with every action there is a consequence. They highlighted that though this behavior would garner the attention that in the long run looking at the people in their generation that indulged themselves in such behavior--it is not the outcome that you want. A severe dose of reality really helps! I can testify that it helped me! Plus when these children aren't being engaged in healthy conversation about sex and behavior, the outside world becomes that "surrogate" that has that conversation with them. And you know that the media pretty much doesn't have much boundaries anymore.

Thanks for bringing up this conversation! We need more of you!!

Those lil girls watch way too may rap videos, lol. I think what younger women need is for their older sistas to teach them game. We need more women who act like real ladies to impart knowledge to the youth.

I don't think the right knowledge is being passed down to the younger generation. In my community I see behavior like this being passed down from mother to daughter, becoming a generational thing. 22 year old women with 38 year old moms who go to the club together. Smoking, drinking, and partying together.
