Hollywood is truly running out of ideas. They will make a movie about anything, and I do mean anything. A Soul Train movie based off the weekly show has been green lighted. According to Variety, Warner Bros. has hired Malcolm Spellman to write a feature based on the classic TV show. Darryl Porter and Aaron Geller of Porter/Geller Prods. will produce with Don Cornelius, the host and producer of the show, which ran from 1971-2006. The film will be set in the 80′s and will focus on a young dude named Protag who is from, you guessed it. The hood. He is an excellent popper and will compete to go on a fictional tour. I don’t know about this being a mainstream hit. I can definitely see the ethnic audience supporting it but not much more. Expect to see this in your local blockbusters soon after it is released in the theaters.
